LIGHTING THE WAY - 1998

This picture was taken of a lighthouse while traveling along the Pacific coast of California. I was teaching art classes and during our study of lighthouses I used the picture of this one in a northwest setting. It seemed natural to add the islands and evergreens that we see when taking ferries through the San Juan Islands. This piece has been a favorite for years with the symbolic beacon of hope standing tall through dark days. It reminds me of the Psalm, "my light and my salvation”.
